Health Science- Pre-Med
The Pre-Medical Careers Major at ATA teaches students both academic and technical skills necessary for a career in healthcare. Students participate in a work-based learning internship as well as earn certifications in CPR, Stop the Bleed, and OSHA for Healthcare Providers. Students will also have the opportunity to obtain CMAA and/or EKG Technician certification if they so choose.
This major is intended for students who plan to pursue a 4-year degree and beyond in healthcare, veterinary medicine, dentistry, forensics, or pharmacy.
My name is Dana McCallum, and I am the Pre-Medicine teacher at ATA. I have over 25 years of experience as a paramedic and I am certified as a BLS/First-Aid and ACLS instructor, with extensive field experience in emergency care. I hold an Associate degree in Paramedicine from Horry-Georgetown and a degree in Early Childhood Education.
For the past 12 years, I have been teaching for Horry County Schools as a Health Science teacher, and I currently instruct the EKG Technician program. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, playing golf, and spending time with my family.
Teaching our next healthcare professionals is my passion.
